Eph. 5:8
Ephes. 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
This passage brings to mind something my grandfather used to say, something to the effect: "You're not monkeys, so why do you act like it?" Or something like what my mother still sometimes says to us children, "We know you're smart enought" or "We know you can do it... so act like it." And Paul is saying just same thing, that we are children of the Lord who are now walking in the light and truth, so we should so walk - acting out what we already know is right from wrong.
It is a sad thing when after the Isrealites had seen the mighty power of God in Egypt and then even walked through the see held apart by His personal hand, that they still chose sin and ultimately to die in the wilderness. How much more for us, who have experienced God's amazing forgiveness, and know the true revelation of Christ's identity and love and witness in the Spirit, that we still desire sin. Let's act like out who we are - children of light.
